I found my husband's great grandfather and his family in the 1906 census, Saskatchewan, District #14 (Mackenzie) subdistrict #11 ... boy was it ever nice to search with the new system!!!! Thank-you for all your hard work! (Merrilee, BC, Jan 2006)
The location in sub district 26 is not Sheep Creek as indicated,
but Steep Creek. I was originally from that community. Great Work! (Randy Robert, Viscount, SK, April 2005)
Please accept my sincere thanks for the transcription of this census. I have looked in vain for years to find the Canadian location of my great grandfather and family. I wept when I located them through your diligent efforts. Thank you. [Elizabeth Warren, Mar 2005]
...Thank you and the society for making this transcription
available. It has helped me locate, with minimal eyestrain, at least
some of my ancestors who settled in Winnipeg. [Roy
Parker, Greely, ON, Feb 2005]
Thanks for the wonderful job you people have done with the
transcriptions. It certainly is a tough job. [Brian
Broda, Feb 2005]
I admire the amazing job you have done. It
was easy to go through the entire Saskatchewan census for District
12, Assiniboia West. Thank you for making the census search so convenient.
(Glen Roberts, a U.S. fan, Jan 2005)
I think you have done an awesome job (Joy
Heselton, January 2005)
A big Thank You to all the volunteers. This is indeed a huge
huge task and we as descendants really appreciate the good work
being done. Betty D. (Lust) Loeppky, Dec

it's wonderful! (Louise
Graham, Oct 2004)
I'm searching the 1906 records for my great-grandfather Capt.
Samuel Ward Dick who arrived from New Brunswick to start ranching
near High River Alberta. They had a house in town and a ranch nearby
in the Chain Lakes area. Through your finding aid, I found the reference
to the 1906 page of the census that I'll need...no doubt, it saved
me TONS of time and I would like to thank you for all the
work you've done to create this resource for genealogists to use.
I found him on page 8 of [Alberta
District 18, Subdistrict 21].
Dick, Samuel W.
Dick, Ellen S. (actually his second wife)
Dick, Ward J.
Dick, Archie S. (my grandfather)
Dick, Gertrude
Dick, Ada
Their daughter Nellie married Henry Harvie (yes Harvie) Dexter
and together they had two children Ward James (known as Ladd) and
Lilla. They lived next door to Capt. Sam and his family ... I have
some lovely photos. They are all buried in the Highwood Cemetery
in High River. ... When Archie S. Dick's wife (my grandmother) died
when my dad (Archie F. Dick) was 10, Lilla Dexter (his cousin) moved
in and became the housekeeper. Over the years, she became my surrogate
grandmother and we played canasta for days at a time when she arrived
for the Christmas holidays. I personally know these people, but
such is the life of the dedicated transcriber who does the best
he/she can... [some deleted portions of this note indicate errors
that have been corrected in the AFHS transcription] . In keeping
with actual transcriptions, unfortunately poor Lilla should remain
as Lillie. Many thanks for all the work you've done. It's
a mammoth task and has certainly made my job easier.
[from Marion Rex, Edmonton, MB, Oct 2004]
Thanks for the wonderful transcriptions!!! I now know approximately what year my grandfather and his brothers came to Canada and that makes the search easier. [Janet Rumsey, Oct 2004]
Thanks! Your site is a great resource that I've only just discovered.
[Mike Giandomenico, Sep 2004]
Thanks for all your efforts in transcribing these records. They
are a great resource and have been helpful to me. [Tony
Ballegeer, Aug 2004]
From your transcriptions I finally found my great grandparents
who left Ontario after the 1901 census and "disappeared"
into Alberta. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication
to genealogy. Thank you especially transcriber Lillian Parent,
Calgary. You've made my genealogical week. [Malcolm
Campbell, Windsor, ON, Aug 2004]
I sincerely appreciate the efforts of individuals and societies
such as yours who provide information and services to all who have
an interest in their heritage. Thanks! [Allan
Wrubell, Challis, ID, Jul 2004]

What wonderful work you have been doing. I can't get over
the amount of family history that I have found. The many hours
of work that must have gove into this is mind boggling.
[from Floyd Sayese, summer 2004]

the future. [Lorn Thomas Quick, Prince Goerge,
BC, Jun 2004]
Fantastic work! [from John Schwandt,
Winnipeg, MB, Apr 2004]
Great site! ... Love the ease of using your listings
of the pages of the Census vs. the drop downs of the NA [National
Archives]. [from Mike Webber, Oakville, ON, Mar
2004]
I have found in {Manitoba] District 10, Subdistrict 2b, not
only my Father, at age one, but my G-Father, G-Mother and her parents
all living under one roof. What a throve of information, so I say
a great big thank you to John Tracy and any of the other
transcribers that have , and continue to work on this material.
Thank You All. [from Dennis King, Jan 2004]
Wonderful project you people have. Congratulations for all the

of compiling this information. [AnnMarie
(Sinclair) Gibson, Nov 2003]
Many thanks to all who have taken the time to do this work.
[Diane Hamilton, Cold Lake, AB, Nov 2003
Your organization is doing a tremendous job of transcribing
this census and making these available online. The transcribers
deserve a big pat on the back for volunteering to undertake
this difficult and tiring task of peering at microfilm which is
not always that readable and decyphering the handwriting of the
enumerators. [George Goos, Oct 2003]
Your help has been invaluable. The map in the national
archives is the wrong way round and as a result I was unable to
recognise anything! [N. Gregor Macgregor,
Oct 2003]
Hello! I was so happy to find the transcription of the
1906 census for Alberta on the Internet. My mothers father
acquired a section of land in 1905, and my great-grandfather (my
mothers maternal grandfather) around the same time. I wanted
to see who was living with them, etc., in 1906.... Again, thank-you
so much for providing novice family history researchers with this
valuable tool. [Mary Risebrough, Oct
2003)
Would you please give a great big Thank you to transcriber,
Elizabeth Rodier. I have been searching for some years for the
address of my Grandfather's ranch CA 1906. He moved his family from
Olds to a ranch south east of Olds, but I could not find where.
Now I know Thanks to Elizabeth's work on the 1906 Census. If
only we can get the 1911 Census released. [Gordon
Becker, May 2003]
Great job on transcribing Census data! I never would have
found any relevant information using just the scanned copies. [Jan
Main Burton, Maryland, Mar 2003]
