1906 Census of Canada - CorrectionsSubmitting corrections to the 1906 is a simple - just send the correction to the AFHS Webster, along with the District #, Subdistrict #, Page # and Line #. Transcription ErrorsIf the transcriber was uncertain or incorrect in their transcription, the AFHS webster will simply make the correction and reload the pdf file to the website. Enumeration ErrorsIf the transcriber accurately transcribed an enumerator's error, the line of data will remain as it is. But, we will add a note at the foot of the pdf file indicating that "submitted information suggests that the enumerator was in error and that the correct information is ..." We hope you will also provide us with a reason why your suggested corrections are valid in contrast to the enumerator's account. The edited pdf file will be reloaded to the website. ProofreadingIt is natural that there are errors in the transcriptions - errors of the transcriber or the enumerator. Proofreading would help minimize the transcriber error, but our primary efforts at this time are at simply getting the images transcribed. If there are volunteers who are interested in proofreading - we will be most grateful. And, in time, we will make the effort at a full volunteer proofreading of the transcriptions as well. VolunteeringTo volunteer as a transcriber or proofreader, just let our AFHS Webster know. And, there are numerous transcribing tools/tips available from the 1906 Census homepage.
