1997: Deaths - Y
YAHOLNITSKY - Robert (Bob) Emil Yaholnitsky passed away suddenly as a
result of an airplane accident on Friday, October 17, 1997. He was 49
years old. He was predeceased by his father Emil, mother Anne (Bobbie)
and brother Nestor. He is survived by Mary-Ann, his wife of twenty-five
years; daughters, Allison and Candice; and brother Douglas of Yorkton,
SK. Bob was born and raised in Yorkton. He moved to Calgary in 1968 and
became involved with the Restaurant business, first as chef and then as
proprietor of his own establishments, Terrace Fifteen and Bobbie's Basque
Style Restaurant. He was an avid flyer since age sixteen, having owned
several aircraft over the years. In 1988 he became a licenced P.A.M.E.
Bob will be missed most for his enthusiastic approach to life and strong
commitment to helping those around him, he touched so many. He will be
lovingly remembered by relatives and friends. Those wishing to pay their
respects may do so at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, 1708 - 16 Avenue N.W., on
Tuesday, October 21, 1997 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will
be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 244 Templemont Drive N.E., on
Wednesday, October 22, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Tom J. Carman officiating.
Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes, that if

YEREX - Mrs. Reta Mary Mildred Yerex of Strathmore, Alberta was born
September 4, 1923 in Craigmyle, Alberta. Shewas promoted to heaven on
October 7, 1997 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary. Reta was the
only daughter ofpioneer homesteaders Norman and Beatrice McRae. She was
predeceased by her parents and two older brother, Stan(Graydon) McRae
of New Westminster, B.C., and Harvey McRae of Wetaskiwin. She is survived
by her husband offifty-seven years, Art Yerex of Strathmore; her younger
brother Rod McRae of Peace River; her two children, Darcy (Fern)Yerex
of Calgary and Retalee (Dennis) Ratzlaff of Surrey, B.C.; five grandchildren,
Holly (Lee) Thiessen of Priddis, Darin(Robin) Yerex and Danny Yerex of
Calgary, Dana Ratzlaff and Darcy Ratzlaff of Surrey; five great-grandchildren,
Brett,Tanner and Paige Thiessen of Priddis, and Odessa and Talena Yerex

YESDRESYSKI - Sergeant David Leonard Yesdresyski passed away suddenly
on Tuesday, June 10, 1997 at the age of 54. Predeceased by his wife Margaret
in 1984. He will be dearly missed by his family, loving mother Rose Yesdresyski
of Kelowna; daughter Marnie Yesdresyski of Edmonton; two sons, David and
Dwayne Yesdresyski of Edmonton; three sisters, Joan Richter (Dave) of
Kelowna, Lynn Webb (Keith) of Armstrong, B.C., Bonnie Penner (Harvey)
of White Rock, B.C.; nieces, nephews and extended family. Sadly predeceased
by his brother Gerry, and father Len. He served for thirty-six years as
a photographic technician with the Canadian Armed Forces. A Funeral Service
will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of SPRINGFIELD

YOUNG - James "Jim" Young of Calgary, passed away peacefully
at the Brentwood NursingHome on December 28, 1997 at the age of 84 years.
Jim was predeceased by his wife Edna onDecember 17, 1996. He will be lovingly
remembered by his daughter Betty and son-in-lawGordon Russell; his grandsons,
Michael and Gordan; and by numerous other relatives andfriends. Relatives

YOUNG - Mr. Leonard (Len) Young, beloved husband of Aurora Young, of
Calgary, passed away at Foothills Hospital on June 3, 1997 at the age
of 74 years. Len was born in Edmonton in 1922. He was a World War II veteran
serving in motor torpedo boats in Europe, and doing convoy duty in Corvettes
during the battle of the Atlantic. He worked for many years as an industrial
electrician in the Yukon Territory and in Alberta. He was a member of
the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 1, and a member of the Golden Age
Club. A memorable occasion of Len's was receiving his pilot's licence
when he was in his late forties. Besides his loving wife, Len is also
survived by his children, from his first marriage, Lynda Taylor of Calgary;
from his second marriage, Larry and his wife Dorothy Young of Vancouver,
David Young of Whitehorse, Sharon and her husband James Fleury of Brennens
Hill, PQ, Allen Young of Ottawa; his son-in-law Ron Watkinson of Thunder
Bay; his stepchildren, Sandra, Debbie, Carol, Gerry, Dave and their families;
as well as six grandchildren, Jennifer, Lori, Nichole, Deborah, Michelle
and Jerry. He is also survived by a sister Evelyne and her husband Lester
Faulkner. Len was predeceased by his first wife Pearl, second wife Mary,
and his youngest daughter Lenora and granddaughter Danielle Watkinson
on March 21, 1997. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S

YULE - Margaret Elizabeth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October
18, 1997, at her home in Saanichton, B.C. Margaret is survived by her
loving sons, Gordon (Louise) and David (Lynne); two grandchildren, Michael
and Kenneth; two sisters, Doris Brigham and Mary-Lou (Gordon) Holland;
and many other family and friends. A private Memorial Service was held

YURCHEVICH - Stephan (Steve) Yurchevich, beloved husband of Ann, passed
away at the Rockyview General Hospital on September 9, 1997, at the age
of 69 years. Steve was born on December 26, 1927 in Okucani, Croatia and
came to Canada in 1929 with his mother and two brothers. Reunited with
their father who emigrated from Croatia the previous year, the family
resided in the Camrose area before moving to Calgary in 1941. Steve joined
his father and brothers as a partner in NY Construction, where he was
responsible for the construction of many Calgary churches and schools.
Steve's leisure time was spent with his family and many friends coaching
and participating in numerous sports and outdoor activities, including
a very active involvement in the Calgary radio control sailplane community.
Steve will be remembered for his honesty and integrity, devotion to his
family, innovative craftsmanship and for his love of life. Besides his
loving wife of forty-six years, Steve will also be remembered by his son
and daughter-in-law, Robert and Louise of Vancouver, B.C.; and his daughter
and son-in-law, Susan and Bill of Calgary. He is survived by his brother
Joseph; his sister Anne; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Steve
was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Juliana, and his brother
John. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424
- 24 Avenue N.W.), today, September 12, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev.
John F. Murphy, C.S.B., Celebrant. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's

YUSKOW - On Wednesday, October 22, 1997, Frank Yuskow of Calgary, beloved
husband of Mabel Yuskow passed away in the Rockyview Hospital at the age
of 78 years. Besides his loving "Hun", Frank is survived by
his brothers and sisters, Helen Kaspick and husband Vern of Calgary, Carl
and wife Lillian Yuskow of Edmonton, Bill and wife Florence Yuskow of
Calgary, Tony and wife Harriett Yuskow of Winnipeg, Olga Masur and husband
Gus of Melville, Saskatchewan, Nellie Andrews and husband Bill of Birds
Hill, Manitoba; and sister-in-law Ann Yuskow of Calgary; as well as numerous
nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his brother Peter. If desired,
donations may be made in Frank's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation
