1997: Deaths - Ru
RUCCI - Mr. Biase Rucci of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Bethany
Care Centre on September 9, 1997, at the age of 87 years. Biase came to
Canada in 1952, first settling in Montreal, he moved to Calgary in 1953.
He was a member of St. Ann's Parish and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.
Biase was a longtime employee of C.P. Rail. He will be lovingly remembered
by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Irma Rucci (nee Sailer) of Calgary,
as well as by grandsons, Jason and Jeffrey, all of Calgary. Biase is also
remembered by his brothers, Guiseppe Rucci of Italy, and Serfino and Antonio
Rucci, both of Calgary. He was predeceased by his wife of sixty-one years,
Maria, in October of 1996. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers

RUDIN - Mrs. Mara Rudin of Calgary, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother,
passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Thursday, July 17, 1997
at the age of 78 years. Mara was born in Croatia on December 7, 1918.
She moved to Canada in 1984 with her husband Janko Rudin, who shortly
after passed away in February 1985. Mara will be lovingly remembered by
her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Mary Rudin; two grandchildren,
John Rudin, and Barbara and her husband Zeljko Rados; and a great-granddaughter

RUNDLE - Helen M., known to her friends as Phoebe, passed away December
7, 1997 at theage of 80. She was a resident at the Maple Hill Extended
Care Facility in Langley, B.C. She issurvived by her son Gordon and his
wife Tara; and her three grandchildren, Annette, Bobby andSusan. She also
leaves a brother J.W. Gibbons, and a sister Grace Brown. Memorial Serviceswill

RUPP - Anna Marie Rupp (nee Hartung) went home to be with her Lord and
Savior Jesus Christon December 12, 1997 at the age of 95 years. She will
be lovingly remembered by her twodaughters, Emma (Fred) Hildebrandt and
Ella (Ian) Walker; her daughter-in-law Gloria Rupp;six grandchildren and
fifteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband David
in1982, her son Alfred in 1995, her grandson Dale in 1996, as well as
her sister and six brothers.Anna was born in Brunnental, Russia in 1902
and she immigrated to Canada with her family in1923. She and her husband

RURAK - Mr. Fred Rurak, beloved husband of Mrs. Anne Rurak of Calgary,

young family moved to Calgary in 1967. He is also survived bytwo sons

RUTHERFORD - Beatrice (Bea) Ruth Rutherford (nee Kingston), beloved wife
of Mr. Harry Rutherford of Calgary, passed away due to cancer at the Father
Lacombe Nursing Home on Wednesday, July 16, 1997 at the age of 77 years.
Bea was born January 29, 1920 in Toronto, Ontario. Bea, Harry and their
two daughters moved to Calgary in 1958. She worked with her husband in
their fire fighting equipment business, after which she worked at Woodward's
Department Store for fifteen years until her retirement. Bea has resided
at Father Lacombe Nursing Home for the past three years, due to Alzheimers.
Despite her illness she continued, with her sense of humour, to bring
much happiness and laughter to all. Besides her loving husband, Bea is
survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Jim Bowden, and
Susan Forrest, all of Calgary. Nannie will be greatly missed by her four
grandchildren, Cathy and Kellie Bowden, Steven and Kari Forrest, all of
Calgary. She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave
and Margaret Kingston, Tom and Barbara Kingston; and a sister Irene Ryan,
all of Toronto; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family wish to
express their sincere gratitude to all the staff on the East Wing at the
Father Lacombe Nursing Home, and the Sisters of Providence. Funeral Services

RUTLEDGE - Albert John Thomas Rutledge, beloved husband and best friend
of Maire Rutledge of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital
on Friday, November 7, 1997 at the age of 81 years. Besides his loving
wife Maire, Albert John is survived by two sons, Eamonn and his wife Christine
and Barry and his wife Janet, all of Calgary; four grandchildren, Christopher,
Alexandra, Cara and Megan. He is also survived by his sister Isobella

RUTZER - Mrs. Rosa B. Rutzer of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed
Centre on September 16, 1997, at the age of 79 years. Rosa practiced midwifery
in Switzerland for thirteen years during which time she delivered over
one thousand, two hundred babies in their homes. After immigrating to
Alberta with her husband and family, she was anxious to get back into
her profession. She worked at the Grace Hospital for twenty-four years
until her retirement in 1979. Rosa believed that the best way to have
babies, was to be at home, by letting nature take its course. She was
a strong supporter of the Midwife Group in Alberta. She was active in
the Swiss Club Matterhorn, the Theatre Group Heimatstyl and one of the
founding members of the Dance Group Alpenrosli. "The death of a person
is not the time to weep, for they are gone and shall no more return. It
is time for rejoicing, for the Lord, our God, has brought His child to
sit by Him - forever. This is time for all to remember the pleasant times
that were shared between yourself and those departed. Do not be selfish
and wish them back. For they have gained what every human desires... Eternal
peace. She is the loving mother of three sons and two daughters-in-law,
Arnold and Marianne, Paul, Werner and Krista, as well as the beloved grandmother
of Sara and Tania, Corbet, Justin and Carson, all of Calgary. Rosa is
also survived by a sister Anna Bucher, and nieces and nephews in Switzerland.
She was predeceased by her husband Arnold in 1989. Relatives and friends

RYAN - David Herbert, age 67, passed away June 10, 1997 following a courageous
battle with cancer. God saw you getting tired, A cure was not to be, He
closed His arms around you And whispered "Come with Me". You
didn't deserve what you went through and so God gave you rest He only
takes the best. _ Your loving wife Maxine, children and grandchildren.David
will be lovingly remembered by his wife, soul-mate and best friend of
thirty-seven years, Maxine; two daughters, Tamara (John) Gionet, Melody
(Wayne) Sullivan; one stepdaughter Patsy Ann (Bob) Holden; and eight grandchildren,
Nicole, Robyn, David, Michelle Gionet, Jaymi and Ashley Sullivan, Candace
and Christie Holden; his parents, Glenn and Connie Ryan of Portland, Oregon;
two brothers, Wilverne (Maureen) of Bakersfield, California, Glenn P.
(JoAnne) of San Diego, California; one brother-in-law Earl Ziegler (Shirley)
of Carbon, Alberta; and many nieces and nephews. David served in the U.S.
Navy for four years and on the police force and government work for a
total of ten years before coming to Canada to marry Maxine. David was
an avid weight-lifter and body builder and helped many with their training.
He loved the mountains and nature walks with Maxine and family. He was
very talented in art and drawing and had a great love for old cars and
restoring them to Street Rods. A Private Memorial Service was held by
the family. The family wishes any tributes to be made to the Tom Baker

RYAN - In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 28, 1997 Elmus
(Bud) W. Ryanpassed quietly from this world from within the beloved walls
of his longtime home in the SaddleRidge district of Calgary. Bud was 75
years of age and weary after a lengthy battle with cancer.He is mourned
and forever cherished by Muriel his wife of fifty-one years; his children,
Toddand Cindy Ryan of Victoria, B.C., Pam and Barry Rinehart of Calgary
and Bonnie and JimFisher of Whitecourt, AB.; his granddaughter Evann;
six grandsons, Kane, Quinn, Jarvis, Riley,Garrett and Liam; his sisters,
Rennie, Mary (Bob), Josephine and Vera (Sam); his brother Lloyd(Betty),
his extended family and countless friends. Bud was predeceased by his
parents, Ruthand Elmus Ryan, his sisters, Violet and Mildred, and brothers,

RYBAKOWICZ - Aleksander Rybakowicz, beloved husband of Mrs. Teresa Rybakowicz
of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on Tuesday, November
25, 1997, after a long struggle with cancer. Aleksander was born January
17, 1914 in Pinsk, Poland. He immigrated to Canada in 1949. Aleksander
served in the Polish Army Second Corps during World War II. Besides his
loving wife, Aleksander is survived by a sister Regina Sarnicki of London,
England; a brother Zygmunt Rybakowicz of Poland. He is also survived by
a sister-in-law Janina (Mike) Obrocki of Regina; four nieces, a nephew

RYDLICKI - Lena Meta (nee Baitneryte) passed away peacefully on November
16, 1997 at the Agape Manor Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lena is survived by her daughter Julia Allan of Calgary; sons, Gerald
of Terrace, BC, Michael of Calgary, and Robert of New Zealand; her sister
Meta and family in Australia; and by seven grandchildren. Lena will be

has been married to Jeanette for thirty-three years.He is the loving father
