NAGLE - Mr. Stephen Dean Nagle of Calgary, passed away on December 26,

NARGANG - Hilda Anne Nargang, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister and friend, passed away at Foothills Hospital on Monday, October
20, 1997 at the age of 91 years. Hilda was born in Ontario in 1905 and
lived in Glidden and Kindersley, Saskatchewan until moving to Calgary
in 1960. She is lovingly remembered by her family, Joan Kelm, Cheryle,
Murray (June), Blair (Tina), and Yvonne (Per) and families; Carol Olson,
Greg (Elaine), Clark (Kathy), Marleea (Bob), and Marilyn (Cam) and families;
and Shirley and John Johnston, Doug (Darlene), Terri (Dale), Karen, and
Kim (Dale) and families. She was very proud of her twenty-one "greats"
with two on the way; as well as several nieces and nephews. Hilda was
predeceased by her husband Victor in 1977, her son Clinton in 1979, and
by sisters, Helen, Sybil and Vera, and brother Allan. A Memorial Service

NARUM - Margaret, beloved wife of Mr. Justin Narum of Calgary, passed
away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on October 21, 1997 at the age
of 80 years. Margaret is survived by her sister Elizabeth Judson of Black
Diamond, AB; and her sister-in-law Bernice Koenig of Calgary, AB. She
is predeceased by her two brothers and four sisters. Margaret will be
fondly and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral

NASHCHUK-KOZDROWICKI - Annie passed away at Strathmore Continuing Care
Unit on July 19, 1997 at the age of 93 years. She was born in Poland on
August 3, 1903. Annie was predeceased by her first husband John Nashchuk
in 1954, her only son Bill in 1977, and her second husband Walter Kozdrowicki
in 1978. She is survived by three daughters, Helen (Mack) Walper of Ashmont,
Alberta, Justina (Roy) Kary of Mannville, Alberta, and Mary (Emmet) Burke
of Rockyford, Alberta; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren,
and one great-great-grandchild. Prayer Service Monday, July 21, 1997 at

NAWATA - Mrs. Nancy Mutsuko Nawata, beloved wife of Mr. Tom Nawata of
Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Monday, October 20,
1997 at the age of 66 years. Nancy was born March 3, 1931 on Mayne Island,
B.C. and moved to southern Alberta in 1942. She later moved to Calgary
where she married Tom in 1956. Nancy worked for the Energy Resources Conservation
Board for over thirty years. She was an active member of the Japanese-Canadian
Community and the Calgary Japanese Seniors Group. Besides her loving husband,
Nancy is also survived by a son Dean and his wife Jane of Vancouver; a
daughter Michele of Calgary; and a grandson Kaelam of Vancouver. She is
also survived by a brother Min Kadonaga and his wife Ada of Lethbridge;
two sisters, Miya and her husband Matsu Sakon of Surrey, B.C., Peggy and
her husband Hep Kitagawa of New Westminster, B.C.; and two sisters-in-law,
Grace Kadonaga of Richmond, B.C., and Marian Nelson of Blairmore, Alberta.
She was predeceased by her parents, Toru and Some Kadonaga, two brothers,
Jack and George Kadonaga. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS &

NEE - Ronald Nee passed away very peacefully following a short illness
at the Rockyview General Hospital on Monday, June 30, 1997 at the age
of 68 years. He is survived by his loving companion Jenny Nicklassen;
as well as many family members and friends. A Gathering to Celebrate Ron's
Life will be on Sunday, July 6, 1997. A Family Service of Remembrance

NEESER - Mr. Fred Neeser, of Okotoks, formerly of Airdrie, a past employee
of C.A.D.P., passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on September 17, 1997
at the age of 89 years. Fred is survived by his daughter Janet (Ted) Lineham
of Okotoks; son Glen (Ellen) of St. Albert; his grandchildren, Jeffrey,
Wesley, Jennifer; and five step-granddaughters and their children; nephews,
Jim (Shirley) Neeser of St. Albert, Walter Fred "Bud" Neeser
of High River; nieces, June (Don) Lyons of High River and Marie (Harry)
Waytuck of Calgary and their families. Fred was predeceased by his wife

NEFF - Ralph Joseph. With deep sadness the family and friends mourn the
loss of Ralph. Born at Fertile, Saskatchewan on November 9, 1916. Passed
away June 27, 1997 at the age of 80 years. Ralph is survived by his loving
wife Anne Rita of Rockyford, Alberta; and four daughters, Valerie (Keith)
Bancroft and grandsons, Morgan and Adam of Stony Plain; Marilyn (Bernard)
Burke of Ponoka and grandsons, Troy, Kevin and Vincent; Dorothy Jaeger
and granddaughters, Cindy and Lisa, and great-grandson Jesse, all of Calgary;
Marie (Walter) Browarny and granddaughter Shannon, and grandson Allan,
also of Calgary. Ralph is also survived by a sister Helen Beaudoin of
White Rock, B.C.; a brother Roy (Daisy) of Chilliwack, B.C.; as well as
numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by a son Mervin in
1959, his father Clarence Neff in 1980, his mother Irene Neff in 1991,
brothers, Elmer in 1983, Earl in 1986, Wilfred in 1988, and Clifford in
1927, also his sisters, Doris in 1973, and Mabel in 1994. Ralph farmed
in the Fertile district of Saskatchewan for many years. Ralph and Anne
moved to Rockyford in August of 1954. Ralph did custom combining and in
that capacity, met many people over a period of years. He also drove a
school bus and worked in the hotel. He was employed by the County of Wheatland
at the time of his unfortunate accident in 1979. He will be sadly missed
by the many left behind who loved him in life and those whose lives he
touched. We each have so many memories of our own relationships with Ralph,
of our times together, of our experiences we shared. Relatives and friends

NEILSON - Antonia (Toni) Neilson (nee Kohout) of Brentwood Care Centre,
passed awayon December 12, 1997 in her 90th year. Antonia will be lovingly
remembered by herdaughter Karen (Fred) Gould of Nanton; her sons, Don
(Isabel), Gerald, and Paul (Dolores);as well as her sister Anne Topak,
all of Calgary. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren,Scott (Margo)
Neilson of Vancouver, Valerie (Craig) Coulombe of Calgary, Shawna andSharon
Gould of Nanton, Robert, Eric, Kevin and Lesley Neilson of Calgary; and
her nieces,nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents,
Anton and BarbaraKohout and by her sisters, Mary Tupkal, Helen Mayer and
Mildred Laidlaw. Antonia wasborn on October 13, 1908 in Michel B.C. and
moved from the Crowsnest Pass to Calgary in1928 to train at the Maxine
Beauty School. She worked for the Hudson Bay and Eatonsbeauty salons in
Calgary before retiring in 1974. Toni was a member of Grace PresbyterianChurch
and enjoyed the many friendships she made through various groups including
TimeOut, Grace Bethany Group, the Mary Marthas, the choir, bible classes

NELSON - Mr. Andrew Nelson of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital
on Sunday,December 14, 1997, after a brief illness, at the age of 92 years.
Andrew was born inDenmark in 1905, and at the age of five, moved with
his family to the state of Washington.He worked in the logging industry
and served in the National Guard. In his late teens,Andrew moved to Calgary,
where he has since resided. He served with the R.C.A.F. for fiveyears
during World War II, both in Canada and overseas. Following his wartime
service,Andrew was employed for twenty years with Mannix, and then went
into pipelineconstruction and inspection. Andrew is survived by a son
Robert Andrew; and a daughterand son-in-law, Marguerite and Volk Stoll,
all of Calgary; three grandchildren, Derek,Michael and Randall; and three
great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Teela and Kyrie. He is alsosurvived by
a sister Lily Moldenhauer of Edmonton. Andrew was predeceased by his wifeGunda

NESBITT - Madeline passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday,
November 8, 1997 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. Predeceased by her
loving husband Homer, and her brother Rudi Saretsky, Madeline is survived
by four sons, Robert, Donald (Susan), Bruce (Lynn), and John (Louise);
and her six grandchildren, Malann, Sarah, Ryan, Elijah, Harrison, and
Philippa; as well as six sisters, four brothers, and numerous nieces and
nephews. Madeline, the eldest of twelve children, was born Magdelina Saretzsky
on the farm near Burr, Saskatchewan, February 26, 1912. Her focus in life
was family, grandchildren, and her social life, which included her bridge
group, church activities, volunteer work and visiting with friends and
neighbors. Vigil of Prayer will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic
Church, 12 Street East and Wiggins Avenue on Tuesday, November 11, 1997

NEUMAN - Mr. John Neuman (Old Boot), beloved husband of Mrs. Thereisa
Neuman of Calgary, passed away at his residence on Friday, October 24,
1997 at the age of 63 years. John was born on September 26, 1934 in Szendehely,
Hungary and came to Canada in 1956. John was married to Thereisa in 1980.
John worked for twenty-seven years for Tony Szakal as a painter and texturer
and worked ten years for Better Built Homes. John was a Legion Member
working for Calgary No. 1 Branch for seven years as Maintenance Personnel.
He played darts at the Legion and Golden Age Club as well as with the
Calgary Pub Dart League and City League. John was also an avid lawn bowler
with the Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club. Besides his loving wife, John is
survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Claudia Young, and
John and Denise Young, all of Calgary; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina
Young and Dave McKee of Oakville, Manitoba; four grandchildren, Candace,
Dustin, Calvin and Mitchell. He is also survived by his brother Jacob;
sister Maria; sister-in-law Elizabeth; as well as numerous nieces and
nephews in Hungary. John is also survived by his pet pooch "Snowball".
He was predeceased by his mother, father and a brother. Those wishing

NEVADA - Mr. Victor Anthony Nevada, beloved husband and best friend of
Marilyn, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Foothills
Hospital on Saturday, July 12, 1997. Victor will be remembered as a loving
family man, devoted to his home and dedicated to his business "Specialty
Fluid Products Ltd." Victor loved the outdoors, his garden, camping,
hunting and fishing. Victor is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Nevada;

NEWSOME - Mary Newsome, cherished mother of Evelene Newsome of Calgary,
Fred (Lucy) of Westcott, and Peter (Susan), and Ken (Linda) both of Cremona,
passed away peacefully with her four children holding her, on September
27, 1997, at the age of 84. Over the years Mary won many hard fought battles
against asthma but lost her last fight to cancer. Grandma will be missed
by Janene (Brock) Martin, James (Andrea) Watson, Laurie (Ernie) Steen,
Dale (Judi) Newsome, Kevin, Robert, Tim, Shawn, Steven, and Brandice Newsome,
and "old Grandma" (Great) to Shaun, Sheldon, Joel, Dakota, and
Levi. She is survived by her twin sister Elna Miller and brother Norman
(Margaret) Jensen, both of Calgary; her stepson Norman Newsome of Drayton
Valley; step-grandchildren, Darrell, Diana and David; nieces, Karen Denby
and Judy Carruther; and nephew Victor Jensen. Mary was predeceased by
her beloved husband Frank in 1974, brother Verner in 1977, mother Karen
in 1940, and father Peter in 1961. She was born February 6, 1913 on the
location of the Spyhill Jail and spent her youth in the Westminster district.
After her marriage to Frank in January 1941, they resided in Bearspaw
district where they raised their four children. They moved to Cremona
in 1965 and then retired to Calgary in 1972. Mary was an active member
of altruistic groups in all areas she resided. She and her twin Elna were
lifetime members of the Thorncliffe-Greenview Community where they spent
hundreds of hours as volunteers and enjoying Bingo and the wonderful companionship
of the Thorncliffe Seniors. She also bowled until health problems prevented
her participation. Mary will also be missed by her many friends and acquaintances
and remembered for her joy of life, her kind, gentle and never complaining
personality, her great sense of humour which she maintained to the end.

was predeceased by her loving husband William. She leaves behind her children,
Richard, Walter and Joyce, and their spouses, Trudy, Joan and Rod Runcie;
her grandchildren, Brent, Christina, Michael, Steven, Krista and Jeremy;
her great-grandchildren, Jason, William, Courtney, Christian and many

NICHOL - Mrs. Zoria Nichol, beloved wife of Mr. Ken Nichol of Calgary,
passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Monday, November 17,
1997, after a lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 50 years. Zoria
was born September 6, 1947, in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. She moved to
Calgary in 1969, where she worked as a legal secretary for Mason and Company
until her illness six months ago. Zoria married Ken in 1973, and was dedicated
to her family, as well as to her career. Her kindness and compassion will
be missed by her family and friends. Besides her loving husband Ken, Zoria
is also survived by her daughter Lana and son Kent, both of Calgary. She
is also survived by her parents, Emil and Eva Shulhan of Tway, Saskatchewan;

NICHOLLS - Mr. Joseph Henry Nicholls, passed away at the Rosefield Center,
Innisfail on November 25,1 997 at the age of 90 years. Joe was born in
Blackpool, Lanceshire, England and immigrated to Canada at the age of
21. Joe spent most of his life in the Carseland area before retiring.
He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours tramping the banks of the
Bow River. He was a charter member of the Carseland Lions Club. After
retiring from the county of Wheatland, Joe spent a a 'few years' on Vancouver
Island before returning to Strathmore, AB. Joe is survived by five sons,
Allan (Francis) of Grand Cache, Danny (Lucy) of Vernon, B.C., Rodney (Delores)
of Vernon, B.C.; two daughters, Wilda Wenstrom of Calgary, Glenda (Dale)
Severtson of Spruce View, AB. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren,
twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Joe was
predeceased by his loving wife Esther Lillian in 1976. If friends so desire,

NIELSEN - Kenneth R. passed away October 17, 1997 at the Foothills Hospital

NIEMI - Ida Maria Niemi passed away on October 19, 1997 at the age of
97 years, 11 months and 5 days, at the extended care unit of the Canmore
General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband August in 1955, her
sister Lydia in 1984, and her sister Lily in 1989. She will forever be
lovingly remembered by her daughter Eila and her husband Mike Dyrgas;
her son Melvin and his wife Elke; her three grandchildren, Darrel Dyrgas,
Cory and Carolynne Niemi; and her two great-grandchildren, Parise and
Destiny Dyrgas; her sister Jenny Latvala and her brother John Niemi; and
by her many nieces and nephews and friends. Ida was born in Alavus, Finland
on November 13, 1899; she came to Canmore, with her family in April in
1912. She resided in Canmore most of her life; after her husband passed
away she worked at the Old Canmore Hospital for almost eighteen years.
She also did a lot of babysitting and housecleaning for many families
in Canmore, and loved every minute of it. She also loved her Bingos and
playing Crib; she and her sisters spent many happy hours with their card
games. Her love for life and her wonderful sense of humour will be sadly

NORMAN - Mrs. Betty Anna Norman, beloved wife of Don Norman and very
special mom and friend of Kelly Eaton of Calgary, passed away in the comfort
of her home on July 6, 1997 at the age of 58 years after a courageous
battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Betty is lovingly remembered
by her husband Don; her daughter Kelly Eaton, Kelly's husband Dave and
their children, Jessica and James. Betty will also be deeply missed by
her brother Bill Lust (Gwen), and her sisters, Shirley Ellis (Harold),
Eileen Lust, Jo-anne Kurash (Rick), Susan Van Stockum (Emmett), Erin and
Peter as well as many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Linda
Fong and the loving nurses who cared for Betty. Betty was dearly loved
and will be deeply missed by her many "Special Angels". Up to
the time of her illness, Betty worked for Canadian Hunter Exploration
where she became very close to many of her co-workers and counted them
among her friends. She was an avid outdoor enthusiast and loved spending
her time skiing, hiking, camping, gardening and running. Betty always
maintained her zest for life in spite of her illness and will be loved

NORTHCOTT - Charles Arthur Northcott passed away in Brooks on October
21, 1997 at the age of 87 years. Charlie is survived by his loving wife
Rose of Brooks; his children, Ron and his wife Gerry of Calgary, Shirley
and her husband Lloyd Iles of Stettler and Larry and his wife Edith of
Calgary; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters,
Truda Field of Ladner, BC, Ruth Dakin of Vancouver and Helen Holditch
of White Rock, BC; two brothers, Len and Harold of Milo; and numerous
nieces and nephews. Born on the family farm in the Milo area, Charlie
moved to Claresholm and had worked in a grocery store there which began
a long career in grocery retail. Charlie had managed a store in Innisfail
and later owned and operated stores in Milo and Vulcan. He moved to Brooks
and purchased the IGA in 1959 which he ran until selling the business
in 1970. Charlie was predeceased by his first wife Ruth in June of 1982
and a daughter Betty Ann in March of 1995. Funeral Services will be held
