HRUBY - John Hruby of Calgary, passed away suddenly at the Foothills
Hospital on November 18, 1997 at the age of 41 years. He was born in Banff
and received most of his education in Calgary. John was employed at the
Rockyview Hospital. He will be lovingly missed by his family and friends.
John is survived by his mother Vera Hruby of Surrey, British Columbia;
two sisters, Goldie Bowman of Toronto, Ontario; Jean Brown of Richmond,
British Columbia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased
by his father Steve in 1983. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers

HUMPHREY - Thomas Alexander Wilson Humphrey April 4, 1919 - May 19, 1997
With saddened hearts we announce the passing of the dearest man in our
life, dear husband and Dad, leaving to mourn and remember him with great
love - Doris (wife of fifty-one years), and daughter Cheryl. He will always
be remembered and loved by Irene (Bob) Gibbon of Red Deer; Bob (Margaret)
Humphrey of Dingwall, Scotland; Harry (Jean) Humphrey of Okanagan Falls
as well as Aldo (Bernie) Johnson; Evelyn Richardson; Flo (Lloyd) Cooper;
Hazel Johnson; and many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family.
He was predeceased by brother Woody in 1989 and sister Jeannie. Tom was
born in Dingwall, Scotland coming to Canada at the age of four with his
parents and two brothers. He was raised in Calgary (Bankview) where he
met Doris and was married on August 28, 1945. He worked for Imperial Oil
in Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton for almost thirty-eight years. During
those years he developed friendships with many wonderful people. He was
a special and unique man with an exceptional sense of humor. No one really
dies as long as there are people on this earth who love and remember him.
"Until we are together again in warm embrace. You will always be
so close and so dear in our hearts and minds!!!" Tom was laid to
rest in Edmonton on Thursday, May 22, 1997. In lieu of flowers, please

HUNKA - August 14, 1923 to September 3, 1997. Mr. William (Bill) Hunka
of Calgary passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home on September
3, 1997 at the age of 74 years. Bill was born in Andrew, Alberta on August
14, 1923 and was the youngest of nine children born to John and Maria
Hunka. He was in active service in England during World War II, as a navigator
and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Upon his return, he graduated
from the University of Alberta with a degree in Chemical Engineering and
worked for many years as a Petroleum Engineer in Western Canada, Northern
British Columbia, Ontario and Iran. His many loves included gardening
and wood working, but most importantly, his family. Bill was a dedicated,
loving father and a loyal friend. He will be sadly missed by his many
friends and his sons, Kerry (Wendy), Derek (Shanna) of Calgary; daughter
Janine (Ev) Innes of Okotoks; and grandchildren, Lisandra, Paul, Nolan,
Braden and Connell Hunka and Everett Innes. Bill also leaves behind his
sister Katherine Huculak; brother Nick Hunka; and sisters-in-law, Jennie
Hunka and Kay Hunka of Edmonton. Bill will also be sadly missed by numerous
nephews and nieces and by his cousin and good friend Alex Hunka. A Celebration
of Bill's life will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance"
(17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Monday, September 8, 1997 at 1:00 p.m.

HUNT - Herbert Worth of Delta, B.C. passed away on September 13, 1997
at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by his wife Marjorie in 1995. He is
survived by his son Dwayne (Virginia); daughter Sheryl (Roger) Everett;
grandchildren, Dana Hunt, Kari Grist, Rob Hunt and Trista Everett; great-grandchildren,
Madison and Jesse Grist; sisters, Vera Barwick and Gladys Parsons. Funeral

HUNTER - Alexander (Alex) George Hunter, beloved husband of Ruth Hunter
of Calgary, passed away suddenly on July 7, 1997 at the age of 58 years.
Alex was born October 31, 1938 in Drumheller, Alberta. For the past forty
years, Alex worked in the glass business and since 1977 he owned and operated
Olympic Glass Ltd. He was a past member of the Stampede City Kinsmen and
presently a member of the K-40 Club. His enjoyments in life included fishing,
the Calgary Flames, and the Calgary Stampeders. Alex always enjoyed helping
people, he was always there to lend a helping hand. He had a great love
for his family and will be sadly missed. Besides his loving wife, Alex
is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Bryson and Cindy
Hunter of Strathmore, Tyler and Tanis Hunter, Todd Hunter and Patricia
Boser, all of Calgary; and six grandchildren, Tanya, Greg, Sarah, Spencer,
Sydnie, and Joel. He is also survived by his loving mother, Winnifred
Hunter of Drumheller; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Lorraine
of Calgary; Jim and Sharron of Port Coquitlam, B.C.; and five sisters
and a brother-in-law, Margaret and Albert Barrie of Drumheller, Darlene
Hunter of Vermilion, Grace Hanson, Jean Safronovich, both of Brooks, and
Carol Hunter of Calgary. Alex was predeceased by his father George Hunter,
and a brother Tom Hunter. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so

HUNTER - Dolores Irene of Langham, Sask. passed away on Friday, November
21, 1997 at the age of 63 years. She is survived by her family, daughter

Gail Beck, Langham, grandchildren, Wayne (Shaeri), Brandy, great-grandchild
Mackenzie; daughter Pamela Hunter, Whitecourt, AB, grandchildren, Mitzi
(Ryan), Melissa, John, Cody, Shania; son Don (Rose) Hunter, Whitecourt,
AB, grandchildren, Shawna, Sarah, Justin; daughter Lesley (Cory) Rosenfeldt,
Langham, grandchildren, Shawn, Steven; mother Christina Bellig, Langham;
brother Richard (Rose) Bellig, Leduc, AB; two nieces, Tammy, Terri (Dennis)

HUNTER - Mrs. Dorothy Hunter of Forest Grove Care Centre, after suffering
a stroke in Peter Lougheed Hospital, went to be with her Lord, Sunday,
November 9, 1997, with her son Douglas at her bedside. She is survived
by sons, Donald of Red Deer, Alberta, and Robert of Kitimat, B.C., and
several grandchildren. Two sisters reside in Calgary, Edna Wells, Myrtle
MacLean (John), and a brother Walter Rideout in Edmonton. A Graveside
Service will be held at Union Cemetery, 11:00 a.m., November 13 (11/13/97).
HUNTER - Olga Johanna (Olson) Hunter went peacefully to meet her Lord
Jesus Christ at the Hillcrest Extendicare on December 16, 1997 at the
age of 94. Olga was born on June 12, 1903 on a farm just outside the town
of Hanley, Saskatchewan. Olga taught school for five years before marrying
Wilbur Hunter. They farmed in the Hanley district until Wilbur's death
in 1961. Olga then moved to Outlook and to Calgary in 1975. She was a
resident of Glenmore Manor for seventeen years and moved into Hillcrest
Extendicare in September of 1997. Left to mourn her loss are four sons,
Alan (Betty) of Hanley, Sask., Lyle, (Marilyn) of Bottineau, N.D., Larry
(Dagne) of San Diego, Cal., Rae (Julene) of Salmon Arm, B.C.; four daughters,
Arlie Hunter of Calgary, AB, Verna (Oliver) Pederson of Port Coquitlam,
B.C., Elva (Lionel) Hopkins and Lois (Frank) Buhler, both of Calgary;
twenty-eight grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren; one brother
Oscar Olson of Outlook, SK; one sister-in-law Alice (Hunter) Drake of
San Diego, Cal.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Olga was predeceased
by her parents, Thomas and Gertrude Olson, an infant son, her husband
Wilbur, and her sister Olina Rawling. Her family will always cherish the
memory of a precious mother and an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Alliance Church, 1201 Glenmore
Tr. S.W., on Friday, December 19, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Ray Matheson
officiating. Funeral Services and Interment will be held at Bethlehem
Lutheran Church, Hawarden, Sask. on Monday, December 22, 1997 at 1:00

HUNWICK - James passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the
Dr. Vernon Fanning Extended Care Centre on December 27, 1997 at the age
of 81 years. James will be fondly remembered by his wife of fifty-eight
years Ethel; his children, Jennie (Steve) Kambeitz, Marion (John) Rodzinyak,
and Carol McCallum; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren;
his four sisters, Mary, Carrie, June and Edna; and one brother Arthur.
Predeceased by his daughter Shirley Yvonne, and his sister Rosaline. James
served with the Canadian Army in World War II with the 20th Battery, Lethbridge,
and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion. James will be sadly
missed by his family and friends and will be remembered in their hearts
forever. At James' request, there will be a Private Family Interment only.

HUTCHINSON - A private Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, July 22,
1997 for Diane Lois Hutchinson, wife of Derwent Hutchinson, and mother
to Valerie Scott and Glady Housenga. Diane passed away at age 75, peacefully
in her home at the Bethany Care Centre . She will be lovingly remembered
by Allen, Ryan and Reid Scott of Calgary, and Lloyd, Sherry and David

HUTCHISON - Roberta Frances (nee Davis) passed away suddenly at the Foothills
Hospital on October 6, 1997. Roberta is survived by her husband Burt;
son Gordon; daughter Debbie (Rob) Culshaw; two grandchildren, Gwyn and
Ashley Culshaw; brother F. Murray "Bud" (Dot) Davis; as well
as many family. She was predeceased by her father Bob in August 1973,

HUTTON - It is with great sadness that the family of George Hutton would
like to inform his colleagues and friends of his passing on December 8,
1997 after a brief illness. George was predeceased by his first wife Nice
Fidenato in 1969 and by his second wife Margaret (Marni) Bruce in September
of this year. George was born in Bellevue, Alberta in 1921, the eldest
son of David and Lena Hutton and brother to Gordon. He grew up in the
Crowsnest Pass region of the province and often talked about his days
growing up in the Pass "playing with trains," singing, and playing
baseball, hockey and golf. George left the Pass to attend the University
of Alberta where he graduated in 1945 from the Faculty of Engineering.
George married his high school sweetheart Nice Fidenato in 1945 and settled
in Calgary where they had two children, Glen (Vicki) and Carol. In 1971,
George married Marni and his family expanded to include daughters, Jackie,
Judy (Duncan), Jeannie (Art) and Valerie (Ian). He was very proud of all
his children, his grandchildren (Renee and her husband Marc, Warren, Wes,
Bonnee, Heather, Julia, Greg, Brett, Alex) and his great-granddaughter
Kelsey. George's career as a professional engineer flourished in the architectural
firm of Stevenson, Raines, Varrett, Hutton, Seton and Partners. George
designed numerous schools, churches and office buildings from Calgary
to Yellowknife. However, his proudest achievement was the design of the
Calgary International Airport. George was very involved in the profession
and received a Life Member Certificate from the Association of Professional
Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists in 1986. George loved golfing
and he and Marni took many golf excursions to Florida, Hawaii, Palm Desert
and Japan. His other interests include curling and fishing at the family
cabin in Corbin. None of us will forget the all night bocci games in Corbin
with Sesto, Beppo and Topano. He will also be remembered for his love
of music as a youngster singing in numerous competitions or in Palm Desert
singing with his brother Gordon, sister-in-law Yvonne and all of the great
friends they made throughout the years. Memorial Services will be held

HUTTON - Margaret Anne (Marni) Hutton (nee Bruce), born April 19, 1930,
passed away September 6, 1997. She leaves a loving husband George A. Hutton,
P.Eng.; and six children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

HYATT - John Perry Hyatt of Calgary, passed away suddenly June 19, 1997,
in Ayr, Scotland. He is survived by his wife Sheila Hyatt and son Alan
Hyatt (10/3/97).
HYATT - John Rollo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30,
1997 at the Trillium Lodge, Parksville, BC, in his 87th year. Beloved
husband of Kathleen Bell and father of Heather and Jack, Calgary, AB,
and Bruce, Nanoose Bay, BC; proud grandfather of Tina, Laura, Randy, Norman,
Sheila and Jonathan as well as two great-grandchildren. John is also survived
by his two sisters, Kath Morris, England and Edith Hyatt, Calgary, AB.

HYDE - Mary Theresa (nee Hughes) peacefully on Tuesday, December 23,
1997 at the Lakeshore Lodge, Toronto, at the age of 95 years. Theresa
(lovingly known as Ted or Teddy) was predeceased by her husband Raymond
Milton (Ray) Hyde; her son Ray Jr.; and her grandsons, Steve Cooke and
Rick Hyde. Theresa will be sadly missed by her daughter Nancy Jane Cooke
of Calgary; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; special nieces,
Beryl Frampton and Carol Fordyce; loyal friend Betty Cameron; daughter-in-law
Teresa Hyde; and other nieces and nephews and their families. Her ready
smile and sense of humour will be missed by all those and by residents
and staff of Lakeshore Lodge. A Service of Remembrance will be held on
Monday, December 29, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lakeshore Lodge.
