FACEY - Frederick Beveridge (Bev). On October 17, 1997 Mr. Bev Facey
of Edmonton passed away at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his
wife Ruby; his son Georgie and his good friend Nigel Pottle of Calgary;
granddaughter Holli and her husband Rod Yeoh of Vancouver. Bev was a Past
Master of St. Johns Lodge No. 25 A.F. + A.M. G.R.A. Vegreville. A Past
Master of Eastgate Lodge No. 192 A.F. + A.M. G.R.A., Past T.P.G.M. of
Edmonton Lodge of Perfection, Honorary Inspector General 33 Degree A.
+ A.S.R. and Past President of the Vegreville Rotary Club, and Past President

FAIRBAIRN - Earl Ritchie Fairbairn passed away quietly on December 9,
1997. He was born February 4, 1896 in Canduff, Northwest Territories,
now Saskatchewan. Earl was a member of the Masonic Order for over seventy
years and an enthusiastic member of the Al Azhar (Shrine) Temple for over
fifty years. He retired from the Mortgage Department of Canada Life in
1961 after thirty-five years. He is survived by his son Dawn and wife
Rita; daughter Betty Blockberger; as well as eight grandchildren, and
twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS &

FAIRBANKS - Stewart Joseph, passed away suddenly on Monday, December
22, 1997 at the age of 35 years, while playing hockey, a game he loved.
After completing his MBA one and half years ago, Stew was employed at
Trans Canada Energy and taught a management course at the University of
Calgary. He was looking forward to finishing his PhD. He loved coaching
his hockey team and sharing time with his family, at their many activities.
Stew is survived by his best friend and wife, Debbie; and his beloved
children Riley, Shea, Grady and Hayley. He is also survived by his parents,
Ev and Joe Fairbanks; brother Cal; sister Pam and Marc Bonneau; nieces,
Claire and Christine; and his Grandma Vena, all of Calgary. He will also
be missed by his in-laws, Joan and Norm Clark of Millarville; and sisters-in-law,
Cindy and Jim Roberts of Calgary, Carole and Leroy Goodreau of Pincher
Creek; and brother-in-law Bob and Mary Ann Clark of Victoria. Jamie, Samantha,
Carley, Brett, Keegan, Josh and Sarah will also miss their Uncle Stew
very much. A celebration of Stew's life will be held at Lakeview United

FAIRLEY - Mr. Andrew (Andy) Thomson Fairley of Calgary, beloved husband
of the late Amy Fairley, passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on Friday,
September 12, 1997 at the age of 88 years. Andy is the beloved father
of Jeannette (Roy) Barr of Calgary, Marilyn (Earl) Smith of Olds, AB and
Andrea (Bryan) Sherwood of Chestermere, AB; and dear grandfather of eight
grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Andy will be sadly missed

FAIRMAN - Frederick (Fred) William passed away at the Foothills Hospital
on Sunday, October 26, 1997, at the age of 85 years. Fred was born in
Spalding (Kisby), Saskatchewan on September 5, 1912. He enjoyed carpentry
and worked at this profession throughout the Western Provinces before
finally settling in Alberta. In addition to carpentry, Fred enjoyed hunting,
fishing and working around his house. Fred is survived by Florence, his
wife of sixty-five years; he is also survived by his son Martin (Pat)
Fairman; a brother Duke (Edith) Fairman; grandson Darren; and granddaughter
Kari. At Fred's request there will be no Service, however, relatives and
friends are invited to meet with the family at the home of Marlin Fairman,
40 Silverview Way N.W., on Wednesday, October 29, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00

FALCONER - Otta Falconer of the Delia and Drumheller area passed away
quietly in the Drumheller Hospital on October 15, 1997 at the age of 99

FANDREY - Alma (nee Klinner) Fandrey passed away November 20, 1997 at
the age of 83 years. She was born in Bialablota, Poland in 1914 and emigrated
to Canada in 1950, settling in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She moved to Calgary
in 1992. For many years Mrs. Fandrey was actively involved in the Ladies
Aide Group of St. Paul Church in Medicine Hat. Alma will be lovingly remembered
by her husband of forty-seven years, Otto; and her daughter Gerda Harrity;
two sisters, Elsa Radke and Erna Wahl; and numerous other relatives. The
family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving
care and support provided by the Second Floor Staff at Sarcee Auxiliary

FARQUHARSON - Phyllis Irene (nee Massie), beloved wife and companion
of Melvin Farquharson, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 1997 at the
age of 66 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Phyllis was the
loving mother of a daughter Terry (Brian) Wilson; and grandmother to Tara
and Brad Wilson. She is also survived by a special niece Cathy-Anne (Jim)
Horne, and their girls; three sisters, Jean Cochrane, Doris (Don) Wyman,
Joyce (Harry) Roth; a brother Dale (Beth) Massie; a brother-in-law Howard
(Vola) Farquharson; many nieces and nephews, and friends. She was predeceased
by her parents, Jack and Lydia Massie in 1981 and 1996 respectively, a
brother-in-law Keith Cochrane, and a niece Debra Gundlock. Phyllis lived
most of her life in the Madden district before retiring to Calgary in
1976. She and Mel were in the forty-eighth year of marriage. Phyllis was
very active in the Crossfield Baptist Church and later the Brentview Baptist
Church where she was a member. She will always be remembered for her ability
to make visitors very welcome in her home where she was a very efficient
homemaker and cook. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens.
Phyllis was devoted to her family and friends and she will be missed greatly
by them all. Funeral Services will be held in the Brentview Baptist Church,
3512 Charleswood Drive N.W., Calgary (parking in Brentwood Shopping Centre),
on Sunday, July 20, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Kernohan and Dr. Siegfried

FARQUHARSON - Vernetta Farquharson (nee Grasswick), a native Calgarian,
passed away onMonday, December 29, 1997 after a valiant struggle with
cancer at the age of 75. Vernetta wasmuch loved by her best friend and
husband of forty-nine years, Roy. She will be fondlyremembered for her
strength, courage and love by Roy and their children, Susan, James (Roxie),Janet
(Dane), Bruce (Gail), Heather (Rob) and Ian (Dollie). She will be forever
cherished by herten grandchildren, Meaghan and Kelsey Farquharson, Dionne,
O'Rhane, Ashton and DaltonGriffiths, Caitlin Farquharson, and Fulton,

FEARS - Mrs. Catherine Madelene (Kaye) Fears, beloved wife of fifty-nine
years of Mr. Jack Fears of Calgary, passed away at the Glenmore Palliative
Unit on Tuesday, December 2, 1997, following a long illness at the age
of 87 years. Kaye received her education at the convent in Vibank, Saskatchewan.
She graduated as a registered nurse from Grey Nun's Hospital in Regina.
Besides her loving husband, Kaye is survived by a daughter Rosemary Fears
of Nanton, Alberta; as well as by three grandchildren, Michael Fears,
Danny Fears and Melanie Hogarth, all of Calgary. She is also survived
by a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Armande Gerein of Regina, Saskatchewan.
Kaye was predeceased by her eldest daughter Jeanette, two sisters, Pauline
and Lyda, and her brother John. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers

FEDORUK - Tillie Fedoruk passed away at her home in Calgary on December
24, 1997, at the age of 71 years. Predeceased by her husband William in
1989, Tillie will be sadly missed by her two sons and two daughters-in-law,
Brian and Pegi of Calgary and Kevin and Jane of Taber; and two daughters
and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Charlie Hogeslag of Kelowna, B.C. and Colleen
and Randy Richards of Calgary; and eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She is also survived by her mother Luvella Ell of Grassy Lake; and two
brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Josephine Ell of Grassy Lake
and Edward and Ella Ell of Calgary; and one sister and brother-in-law,
Helen and Gordon Reber of Bowden. Tillie will be remembered for her years
of dedicated service in the CWL and with Pastoral Care at the Peter Lougheed

FEDORUK - Vera Anne Fedoruk (nee Svarich) passed away peacefully in her
home on June 24, 1997 in Victoria, B.C. She will always be remembered

FELLGER - Frederick Ernest Fellger passed away at the Foothills Hospital
on Wednesday, December 3, 1997, after a brief struggle with cancer, at
the age of 54 years. Fred grew up on a farm near Scandia, AB. He lived
all his adult life in Calgary until moving to Cochrane in 1990. He worked
for CP Transport for seven years, then in 1971 began transporting vehicles,
a job that he truly enjoyed and continued doing for the past twenty-six
years. Fred loved his horses and had a very special way with them. He
enjoyed camping; talking about horses, cars and trucks with his buddies;
and auction sales. Fred will be especially remembered for his great sense
of humor. Fred will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his loving
wife, Vivian; his son Lloyd Fellger of Fort McMurray; his three daughters,
Sheri Lane of Calgary, Shonna and Stacey Fellger of Mayerthorpe; and his
two grandchildren, Jasmine and Jacob Fellger of Mayerthorpe. He is also
survived by his brother Alan (Shirley) Fellger of Vauxhall; and three
sisters, Ann (Jack) Craik, Beverly (Doug) Erskine, all of Lethbridge,
and Patricia (Gary) Ring of Brooks; as well as other relatives and many

FELSKE - Mr. William (Bill) Felske of Calgary, passed away at his residence
on December 9, 1997, after a lengthy illness. He is mourned by Della,
his loving wife for fifty-three years. Bill was born in 1915 in Nokomis,
Saskatchewan, and was one of eight brothers and seven sisters. He farmed
near Nokomis and Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, before moving to Alberta in
1948, where he made many friends in farming, investment and Real Estate
circles. Enjoyment of family gatherings anchored Bill's life, but there
was always time for travelling, gardening, spectator sports, crafting
his red and white glider rocking horses, and talking with friends at local
coffee shops. Besides his loving wife, Bill will be sadly missed by his
children, Sandra (Clifford) Rhodes, and Lorry (Aileen) Felske; four grandchildren,
Michelle (Todd) Faunt, Cheralyn (Allen) Doell, Johanna and Nicholas Felske;
great-grandson Harrison Faunt; and three stepgrandchildren, Teresa (Bill)
Pearce, Barbara (Dean) Desireau and Bryan Rhodes. He is also survived
by his two sisters and brother-in-law, Ida Otto of Ashern, Manitoba, and
Eileen and Wally Otto of Calgary. Those wishing to pay their respects

FERGUSON - Agnes Lillian of Vulcan, Alberta passed away peacefully June

FERGUSON - Daphne passed away at her residence after a lengthy illness,
on Thursday, December 18, 1997. Daphne will be lovingly remembered by
her husband John; and by her cousins, Evelyn Allan of Scotland, and Bill
Burnett and his wife Nanette of Australia. Daphne possessed a true love
of gardening which she enjoyed her entire life. She was a member of the
Naomi Rebekah Lodge No. 12 and enjoyed her many lodge activities. Another
of Daphne's joys was the knitting of sweaters, knee laps, and various
other items which she generously and lovingly made for the enjoyment of
others. Daphne will be missed by all who knew her. A Service of Remembrance

FERGUSON - Joan Ferguson of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Southwood
Nursing Home on November 23, 1997, at the age of 74 years. Joan is survived

eight grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Terry in 1986.

FERREL - David Richard Ferrel passed away on Saturday, November 29, 1997
on a ski trip in Kananaskis. He was born on February 6, 1980. David lived
every minute of his life to the fullest. He was taking his Grade Twelve
at Western Canada High. David loved his friends and spent his final time
with some of them. He was an avid athlete and participated in hockey,
golfing, curling, hiking and snow-boarding. He also worked part-time at
Strathcona IGA. He loved music and played the violin. David is survived
by his parents, Delores and Wayne; his brother Benjamin; and his grandparents,
Dave and Anne Ferrel of Abbotsford, BC, and Richard and Ann Strang of
Macklin, SK. He also has numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and, of course,
his very precious friends. The Family invites you to join in a Celebration

FERRIS - October 29, 1997, Doris Madelian Ferris (nee McKenzie), aged
70 years, of Calgary. Doris was predeceased by her husband Delbert on
April 12, 1991 and a great-grandson Mackenzie Wong on November 11, 1995.

FESZLER - Mr. Antal Feszler, aged 66 years, passed away at the Peter

FETHERSTON - Eileen B. passed away peacefully at her home in Saanichton
on Wednesday, September 10, 1997. She was predeceased by her husband Walter
and her sister Hazel. Eileen will be missed and is lovingly remembered
by her daughter Terry; her son Don; her special life-long friend Hilda
McGurk; and her friends and relatives in Alberta and B.C. After living
a full and satisfying life in Calgary, she moved to Victoria where she
joined the Central Saanich Senior Citizens Association in Brentwood Bay.
Her eyes sparkled when she talked of all the wonderful new friends she
made at the "500 Club" and the "Crib" card groups
of the Seniors Association. We wish to thank Carmel MacDonald, home care
nurse, and Dr. Stephanie Dimoff for their expert care and kind support
during our difficult time. "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I
am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the
diamond glints on the snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the
gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift
uplifting rush. Of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars
that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there.

FETSKO - Paul Fetsko passed away on November 18, 1997 in Calgary, Alberta,
following a battle with cancer. Paul was born on July 9, 1919 in Fernie,
B.C. to one of Fernie's older families. He attended public and high school
there, graduating in 1937. During World War II he was unable to enlist
in the Air Force, he therefore went to work in the coal mines. He later
attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton, graduating with a degree
in Civil Engineering in 1952. He was employed with the Department of Highways
and Transportation, retiring in 1984 after serving for thirty-three years
in southern Alberta. Survived by his loving wife Alexandra (Fegirchuk);
brothers, Stephen, Vancouver, B.C., Peter, Regina, Sask.; sister Emma
(Tony) Pavich, Richmond, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews in B.C.
and Alberta. Funeral Services will be held at Parkdale United Church,

FETTER - Gladys Irene Fetter passed away peacefully at her home surrounded
by her loving daughters, Marian Jefferies and Mavis Fetter, on December
19, 1997 at the age of 92 years. Gladys was born in Sherwood, North Dakota
and immigrated to Antelope in 1910 with her parents, Henry and Dorathea
Walker. Gladys married her beloved husband Bryan in Cabri, Saskatchewan
on November 7, 1927. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Alan
Fetter (Dorothy) of Edmonton, Alberta, Marian Jefferies and Mavis Fetter
of Calgary, Alberta, and Edward Fetter (deceased), and Francis of Nova
Scotia. Gladys and Bryan celebrated sixty-three wonderful years of marriage,
before Bryan passed away on November 25, 1989. Gladys was a loving grandmother
and great-grandmother. There were thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Henry, Edward and sisters, Helen
and Esther. Mary Ann NuFable was a loving and dedicated care giver to
Gladys until the last. Gladys had a wonderful artistic talent and was
a thirty-five year member of the Calgary Rock and Lapidary Club. Her displays
will be missed at the annual Lapidary Show. Funeral Services will be held
at St. David's United Church, 3303 Capitol Hill Crescent N.W. on Tuesday,
December 23, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John Griffith officiating. Cremation.
